CAMP
MEETING
GROUND

In the summer of 2025, an intergenerational camp brought together Innu, Atikamekw, and Naskapi families in Saguenay, on the Nitassinan, in an atmosphere of intercultural exchange. Welcomed by Québécois friends in the forest, everyone—from the youngest children to the Elders—spent a week together, sleeping in tents or in the cabin, to share and capture the cultures, languages, and values carried by several Nations.

For the first time, the camp was not held in a community, in order to allow First Peoples living outside their communities to reconnect with cultural transmission. Participants received training in audiovisual recording, which enabled them to film both the cultural workshops that were organized and the spontaneous moments of sharing experienced in daily life.

Faithful to family and intergenerational values, the structure of the camp was designed to welcome the children of all participants. The video capsules produced testify to this experience: an atmosphere imbued with warmth, hospitality, and a natural interconnectedness, reminiscent of life in community.
